Academic Speaking
Academic speaking is a purposeful, audience-aware contribution delivered through speech, listening, and interaction.
学术口语是在具体目的与听众情境中,通过表达、倾听和互动完成的学术贡献。
Core Model
situation -> listener needs -> clear spine -> delivery -> listening -> responseIt includes informal Office Hours, class discussion, group work, formal presentations, and online speaking. Unlike a reader, a listener cannot easily reread; organization, transitions, pacing, emphasis, and repetition must make the structure audible.
Preparation Questions
- What is the topic and central take-away?
- Who is listening, and what do they already know?
- Why am I speaking here?
- What time, visual, interaction, and technology constraints apply?
- How will I recover if I lose my place or cannot answer a question?
